It has been revealed recently by the agent of Manchester United transfer target Kostas Manolas that Arsenal have made a massive bid during the summer transfer window for the AS Roma defender but the transfer was never materialised.
It is believed that Man United are preparing to launch bid around £47.6m for Manolas’s signature, with Jose Mourinho scouring the market for defensive reinforcements in January.
However, it looks like 25-year-old Manolas is also firmly on the radar of the Red Devils rivals Arsenal, who made a sizeable offer to bring the Greek centre-back to the Emirates over the summer.
During his interview, the agent of Kostas Manolas, John Evangelopoulos told Sport: ‘Faith in yourself is an important factor and Kostas has a lot of self-confidence. I can’t say where he wants to play, we’d have to see which clubs were interested.
‘Over the summer a proposal worth circa €40m (£35.m) was turned down from Arsenal for Kostas.
‘Arsenal had already shown interest before, but then Roma’s demands were superior to the intentions of the English club.’
The agent went on to give clubs the green light to start plotting offers for his client in the next summer transfer window, with Chelsea also understood to be interested.
He added: ‘I think in the summer there probably will be something, if there is something. In general in the world of football as in life, it is difficult to make predictions.
