Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he is eager to sign a new contract with defending Premier League champions, following interest from Manchester United.
Spain international midfielder who has joined Chelsea from Barcelona for £30million earlier in 2014, has just two years left on his current deal and it led rumours linking him with a switch to Manchester United.
It has been reported that the Blues are about to open negotiations with the Spanish playmaker over a new contract, to fend off interest from their Premier League rivals, Man Utd.
Fabregas claims that staying at Chelsea is his main goal and ready to sign a contract extension with the club.
Speaking with Standard Sport, he said: “Would I like to renew? Yes, because it is a club that has always treated me well.
“I believe the fans have a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for them. I have given my all for the club for the last three-and-a-half years.
“This is a fantastic club for me and I have had a fantastic time here. Hopefully, another contract will happen. Time will tell.”
The Spain international currently earns around £160,000 per week at Chelsea, where he has won two Premier League titles and the League Cup two years ago.
