Chelsea are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of highly-rated Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp.
The 17-year-old forward has been one of the hottest prospects in Germany as he has managed to found the net twice in just five appearances for Hamburg this campaign.
The London duo has been impressed with the Arp’s performance for his country at the European under-17 Championships.
For Germany U-17 side Jann-Fiete Arp has made 17 appearances and has scored 15 goals for them he has rejected a move to defending Premier League champions during the summer, citing a need for the more first-team experience this campaign.
Hamburg president Heribert Bruchhagen had previously said: “He will stay with us.
“His advisor Jürgen Milewski has promised me and sporting director, Jens Todt. He will develop with us.”
But according to the Mirror, Arsenal and Chelsea remain keen on to sign German wonderkid.
Manchester City were also tracking the Hamburg starlet. However, a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge is believed to be on the cards.
However, Hamburg head-coach Markus Gisdol is determined to hang on to the German forward.
He said: “It is no secret, he is a great talent, and we must keep him with us. He can be a great player.”
Defending Premier League Champions are back in action on Wednesday as they face struggling Swansea City after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, while Arsenal face Huddersfield after last-minute win over Burnley.
