According to the English media outlets, Chelsea and Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Everton midfield star Ross Barkley, who has been linked with a departure from the Goodison Park.
The reports from Daily Telegraph suggest that both clubs are keeping an eye on 23-year-old’s contract situation, with his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2018.
However, another Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are also in race for the England international and are ready to launch an official bid in January transfer window.
In December it was reported that the Spurs were in talks with the Toffees over Barkley, but London-based club would need to pay at least £35m for his signature.
Everton head coach Ronald Koeman admitted recently that he was unsure if the English midfielder would ever be capable of fulfilling his potential.
During his interview, Dutch manager said: ‘I am not sure, I am not sure. I had the same stories in Holland with players who, when they were 16 or 17, they were too good in the academy. They didn’t really have competition but because they were stronger or they were a better player than the rest.
‘But then they step up a level and everyone is strong, everybody is a good player, and still you need to make a difference. And that is more difficult.’ Added Koeman.
