Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has urged club’s big-money summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko to improve when in possession following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City on Saturday.
Goals from Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante sealed the important win for the reigning Premier League champions, although Jamie Vardy’s penalty set up a tense finish at the King Power Stadium.
The 22-year-old Tiemoue Bakayoko started his second game in midfield alongside N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas and provided an excellent physical presence in Chelsea’s engine room.
Antonio Conte has praised the physicality of the France international but believes he now must make improvements with the ball.
During his interview after defeating the Foxes, the former Juventus head coach said: ‘I think Bakayoko is improving his physical condition and starting to understand our style of football.
‘Without the ball he is very strong, in this game he helped us a lot.
‘He is a young player and a good signing for us. He has a lot of space to improve. Now he has to improve with the ball.’
Bakayoko has joined the west London giants for a £40m transfer fee from Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco this summer.
