Arsenal have identified Silvan Widmer as a potential replacement of Hector Bellerin.
Swiss defender Widmer has recently returned from a long injury lay-off and has improved as Udinese used their form around this term.
As per TMW, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger and new Head of Football Relations Raul Sanllehi both rate Widmer profoundly, and would like to purchase him in before of a possible Hector Bellerin exit.
The source insists that Udinese are well informed of Arsenal’s interest as the club have previously questioned about the 24-year-old footballer.
It also makes up a situation where Bellerin is sold to Barcelona during next summer window, but this seems to be a theory rather than fact.
Barcelona tried to sign Spaniard during last summer but were told in no reasonable courses by Arsenal that he wasn’t for sale.
After that, they spent big money to sign Nelson Semedo from Benfica, making it unlikely that they’ll return for the Arsenal defender.
While Mathieu Debuchy is 32 years old, Arsenal have no concurrence for Bellerin on this position. Widmer, who can play as a right-back and wing-back, could be the player to produce that next season.
