Alexis Sanchez is trying to force Arsenal into doing business with Manchester City by asking high wages from Bayern Munich, according to stories.
The Sunday Mirror suggests that the Chilean star is asking that the German champions hand him a deal worth £420,000 a week an agreement which would break their current salary structure.
Bayern are believed to be ‘shocked’ by Sanchez’s requirements and feel that the 28-year-old is determined to join up with Pep Guardiola at City.
The Gunners are asking a £50 million transfer fee for Sanchez. However, Arsene Wenger has openly claimed that the club will not sell the striker this summer.
Arsenal are ready to offer Sanchez a £300,000-a-week deal; however, City would be able to match that package.
Earlier this week, Sports Bild suggested that Bayern are effectively out of the hunt for Sanchez due to his salary demands and are already looking at signing alternatives.
The South American, who has only one year left on his deal with Arsenal, is now with Chile’s national team for the Confederations Cup, though he is set to miss his nation’s opening game against Cameroon on Sunday with an ankle injury.
“‘Alexis had some health troubles a couple of days ago and, on Friday, we decided we would let him rest, We will introduce him slowly so he can maybe join us later. He’s still recovering, he’s maybe not ready yet, but we will wait until Sunday to see what’s best for him and what’s best for the team considering it’s the first game.” – said Chile boss Juan Antonio Pizzi.
When asked about the size of the injury, Pizzi responded: “He’s had some problems with his left ankle, and it’s the same leg where he had the injury during the Copa America. One injury was an external injury; this one is internal. He has been tested, and we are quite optimistic, but we realise he needs to recover. He is still feeling some pain so we will decide on Sunday.”
