Chelsea and Manchester United set to battle it out to sign Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo from Gremio.
The 20-year-old Brazilian starlet who has been rumoured with a switch to Barcelona now seems to be heading to the Premier League after the Catalan giants cooled their interest.
Arthur was spotted wearing Barcelona shirts following a meeting with club president Robert Fernandez earlier last month.
However, the incident angered Gremio and now they are ready to sell him Premier League heavyweights.
And following the signing of Brazilian superstar Philippe Coutinho and the imminent arrival of Yerry Mina, Barca have now cooled their interest in Arthur giving the chance for Premier League clubs to fight for his signature.
The Brazilian playmaker has a buyout clause of £45m in his current deal with Gremio and are reportedly willing to sell him at least £35m.
Man Utd and Chelsea are looking at more experienced options as well, however, will likely test Gremio’s resolve as they seek reinforcements during the January transfer window.
Both Premier League giants are desperate to bolster their squads before the window shuts as they look to close the gap with the league leaders Manchester City.
