According to the latest reports, Chelsea have handed a massive transfer blow in the race for AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, as the French star is interested in a move to Manchester United this summer.
The French holding midfielder has made 92 appearances for the League 1 champions since joining the club back in 2014 but is being strongly linked with a Premier League switch ahead of the 2017/18 season.
It is believed that 22-year-old Bakayoko is set for negotiations with Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte over a £37m summer deal but the Frenchman remains open to a move to Old Trafford in the coming months.
The reports from Manchester Evening News claim that Bakayoko is keen on joining the Red Devils after they secured a place in next season’s Champions League following their Europa League triumph.
As per the same sources, Bakaoko is ready to work under a top-class manager like Jose Mourinho or Antonio Conte off the back of an impressive season in France.
However, the powerful midfielder is in no rush to leave Monaco and is understood to be ‘calm’ and ‘happy’ about staying at the Stade Louis II next term.
Alongside Chelsea and Man United, Arsenal have also expressed an interest in the France international in recent weeks.
