According to the latest transfer news from TalkSPORT, Chelsea have to beat competition from Everton and Marseille in the race for Valencia centre-back Aymen Abdennour, who has been linked with a departure from La Liga.
The Tunisia international almost left the Spanish top flight in the summer transfer window and he revealed in September that he had talks with Premier League clubs.
It is believed that these Premier League clubs were Everton and Chelsea and it has been reported that the pair will return for the centre-back in winter transfer window.
However, as per the French publication L’Equipe, the Premier League duo must now fight off competition from League 1 club Marseille from Abdennour’s signature, as the French side are also keen to land 27-year-old powerhouse.
Marseille have cash to splash after billionaire Frank McCourt’s takeover and they are drawing up a list of targets for January.
The reports claim that Abdennour is one of those in their sights and Marseille are considering to tempt him back to Ligue 1, where he played at Toulouse and AS Monaco.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are considering to make Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule their top target for January transfer window due to his experience of playing in a back three.
Antonio Conte’s men have enjoyed a great deal of success with that formation in recent matches, winning their last seven consecutive Premier League games since the Italian head coach changed to a 3-4-3 system.
