As per the French media outlets, Chelsea are closing in on a £37m deal for AS Monaco midfield star Tiemoue Bakayoko as Frenchman is due to hold talks with Antonio Conte.
It is believed that the newly crowned Premier League champions are in pole position to sign the powerful midfielder ahead of Man United and Liverpool, and Bakayoko will personally speak with the Chelsea head coach before completing his transfer to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have offered the French midfielder a five-year contract deal but have yet to fully finalise a fee with this season’s Ligue 1 champions.
Chelsea are ready to use their young midfielder Charly Musonda as part of the deal in order to lower the £37m price tag but Monaco are unhappy with their £17m valuation.
The 20-year-old Charly Musonda returned to Chelsea last December after his loan spell from La Liga side Real Betis was cut short due to a knee injury. The gifted playmaker trained with the first team but did not manage to make an appearance under Antonio Conte.
On the other side, Monaco are keen on signing Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi on a season-long loan after the Belgium international struggled to secure regular football in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
