According to the reports, Chelsea are now prepared to fork out as much as £63m on Juventus full-back Alex Sandro. Antonio Conte has made the Brazilian star a key summer target at Stamford Bridge.
However, progress over a move had stalled as the Old Lady looked to tie the 26-year-old left-back down to a new contract deal.
Antonio Conte is keen on the South American due to his quality at left-wing back. And Sandro would offer strong competition for Marcos Alonso ahead of Chelsea’s return to Champions League action.
It was reported earlier that Chelsea was keen to launch £60m offer for the Brazil international. And now Italian publication Calciomercato claim the Blues are ready to offer up to £63m.
The bid, which is higher than previously expected, shows that London giants still believe they could land Alex Sandro. He currently has three years remaining on his Juventus contract deal, and a new contract with better terms is in the offing.
The same sources also claim that Juve are determined not to sell and consider the Brazilian as an untouchable in their squad. But the fact he still has not penned fresh terms leaves Chelsea with a chance of luring him to the Premier League.
And it appears they want to break the world-record fee for a defender to get Sandro.
