Chelsea’s massive bid totalling £73m turned down

August 19, 2017

According to the latest transfer news from Italian media, Chelsea have had a huge bid for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro turned down by the Serie A champions after reigniting their interest in the Brazilian star.

The Premier League champions were heavily linked with the 26-year-old Sandro earlier in the window, as Antonio Conte is believed to be keen to bolster his wide defensive positions before the window closes.

After having a number of advances turned down it looked as though the Blues were prepared to admit defeat, but it emerged earlier this week that Antonio Conte still holds an interest in the South American full-back.

As per the Italian outlet Calciomercato, the latest bid of the Stamford Bridge club totalled £73m, with £64m made up of one initial upfront payment and the rest in bonuses.

Juventus are reluctant to do business, however, having already waved goodbye to Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves and so far during the off-season.

Alex Sandro, who joined the Serie A giants from Porto back in 2015, featured 27 times in the league last term and a further 11 times in the club’s run to the Champions League final.
