Cherries to miss star man

January 3, 2017

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is without the influential Jack Wilshere for the clash with Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday.

Premier League rules prevent Wilshere from turning out for the Cherries and his absence will be a big blow with Josh King set to come in to replace him.

Howe is again unable to call on Marc Pugh and Lewis Cook as both remain injured but he has decisions to make elsewhere because both Callum Wilson and Adam Smith are pushing for recalls and may feature in place of Benik Afobe and Ryan Fraser.

Meanwhile, The Sun reports that the England midfielder will be offered fresh terms this month despite doubts over his future at the Emirates.

He considered moves to Roma and AC Milan before going on loan to Dean Court this season where he has played 16 top-flight games.

The 25-year-old has since earned his England place back and has been a regular under Eddie Howe.

Doubts had been raised about his fitness after he only once completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League for Arsenal in the previous two seasons.
