According to The Sun, Manchester United have agreed a fee of £80m with Serie A outfit Lazio for the signing of midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The 23-year-old star has made a name for himself as one of Europe’s hottest prospects, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists in 45 appearances for the Biancocelesti this season.
At Old Trafford, meanwhile, Michael Carrick’s impending retirement and the likely departure of Marouane Fellaini have left Jose Mourinho seeking replacements in midfield.
The same sources also suggest that Man United were initially reluctant to meet the Serie A side’s asking price but, with several other European heavyweights monitoring the Serbia international, have opted to raise their offer.
The report goes on to claim that a deal has now been agreed between both club following a breakthrough in talks last week, which should see Milinkovic-Savic heading to Manchester this summer.
Premier League champions Manchester City and Real Madrid have also been linked with the Spain-born player.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is not the only Serie A player Jose Mourinho is desperately chasing. The Special One is also keeping close tabs on Napoli explosive duo Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne.
