Liverpool are reportedly interested in the possible transfer of Leicester City full-back Harry Maguire, also recently linked with Manchester United. The 25-year-old is currently at the World Cup with Gareth Southgate’s squad after a superb campaign for his side after previously impressing at Hull City.
The Daily Mirror reported Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was keen on Harry Maguire a while back, and the Guardian have now slipped in that he is one of Liverpool’s defensive targets. The England international could undoubtedly be an upgrade on Dejan Lovren at the back for the Reds, and beating arch-rivals rivals to his services would be another boost.
And for Jose Mourinho he will be surely an upgrade as Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have struggled to gain regular first-team football under Portuguese manager, who was not satisfied with the performances of centre-backs last term.
The Red Devils already acqired services of 19-year-old Porto defender Diogo Dalot but Special One is keen on adding some experience to his team ahead of challenging 2018/19 campaign. Harry Maguire has shown he has what it takes to play for a bigger club and a move to Old Trafford could be ideal for him to continue his progress.
