According to the latest transfer news in Italy, Liverpool have opened talks to sign Kevin Strootman from Roma,
The Merseysiders German tactician Jurgen Klopp is in the market for midfield reinforcements after Philippe Coutinho’s £142 million move to Barcelona was done over the weekend.
Liverpool also face the possibility of losing Emre Can on a free transfer at the end of the campaign. And according to Premium Sport, Liverpool have held initial negotiations over a deal for Strootman this month.
It’s claimed that Roma are welcoming offers for the Netherlands international, who was wanted by Louis van Gaal while his first summer at another Premier League giants, Manchester United in 2014.
The Reds have yet to launch an offer, but Roma would consider selling the midfielder during the January transfer window.
The Serie A club tried to sell Strootman last summer in their attempts to sign Juan Cuadrado from Juventus, but they were powerless to strike a deal with the Serie A champions.
Premium Sport also claim that Germany international Emre Can leaves Anfield this month, Liverpool could step up their interest in Strootman even further.
