According to The Sunday Times, Liverpool are on red alert as Arsenal midfielder and Jurgen Klopp top target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will tell the Gunners that he wants to leave this summer.
The same sources suggest that the 23-year-old has considered his future during his post-season holiday and believes a move away from Arsene Wenger’s side would benefit his progression.
The Merseyside giants are leading the race for the England international as he is high on Jurgen Klopp’s transfer wish list, although another Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested.
Oxlade-Chamberlain only has only one year left on his current contract deal with Arsenal and The Sunday Times says Arsene Wenger has not made a serious attempt to keep his player at the Emirates.
The versatile Englishman wants to find a new club before the beginning of pre-season but the Gunners will hold out for a transfer fee in excess of £25m.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have reportedly launched a £25m bid for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.
The Poland international has been linked with the Merseyside giants for some time but a deal has failed to materialise. But according to the reports Il Mattino, the Reds have lodged a bid for the 23-year-old Zielinski.
The same sources claim that Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on the midfielder but Napoli are ready to reject a move. It is understood the Serie A giants want around £60m for the player.
