Arsenal have reignited their pursuit of Bundesliga forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they look to replace Alexis Sanchez, according to the reports.
The news will come as a huge blow for Liverpool that have identified Gabon international forward as a possible addition after Philipe Coutinho leaves the club.
The 28-year-old Gabon striker has been a top transfer target for hosts of European clubs over the last two campaigns due to his excellent form for the Borussia Dortmund, which saw him found the net for 40 times in 46 games last term and 21 in 23 so far this term.
Arsenal were alleged to have had a £80m bid for the African forward turned down earlier in the summer of 2016, although the player’s price is now thought to have dropped significantly following his stressful relationship with the Dortmund chiefs.
Earlier this season Gabon forward has found himself suspended for “disciplinary reasons” – allegedly turning up late to the training ground – and has since admitted that he could move on to pastures new this month, saying in a recent interview: “In the winter market a lot can happen.”
Arsenal are seeking a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, while Liverpool are planning to strengthen their offensive end following the possible departure of Philippe Coutinho.
