Liverpool boss eyes surprise move for UCL winning No.4 midfield star

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic following Philippe Coutinho’s transfer to Nou Camp.

The Croatian international midfielder is believed to be concerned about his role at Barcelona after the arrival of Coutinho as he feels that Ernesto Valverde might reduce his playing time.

The Brazilian made the £142m switch to Barcelona last month, but he is not expected to make his debut for the Catalan club for three weeks because of a thigh strain.

Spanish publication Diario Gol has claimed that Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal both could be potential destinations for the former Sevilla man who has been impressive for the Catalans since his move to Nou Camp.

Rakitic, who has started 16 games in La Liga this campaign, recently described the reported fee that Barca paid for Brazilian attacker as “a bit high”.

Meanwhile, both Arsenal and Liverpool seeking for offensive reinforcements and ready to make an approach for AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar who has been valued at £90m by reigning Ligue 1 champions.
