Liverpool are keeping an eye on the progress of Napoli star Piotr Zielinski. Notwithstanding not being a starting IX regular player under Maurizio Sarri, the young Poland international has managed to display some of the impressive performances and has achieved to make 23 appearances, while netting 4 goals.
While Napoli are the leading team in the Serie A standings, 23-year-old has only managed to play in the starting lineup for five times. He will surely be craving to improve upon this statistics and could consequently be open to leaving Naples.
Zielinski was reportedly one of the players who Jurgen Klopp intended to sign when he succeeded Brendan Rodgers as the Reds manager. Nevertheless, in the end, a deal did not go through as the Anfield club did not want to pay the £13million which Udinese demanded.
Nonetheless, it is doubtful that Napoli will let the player leave comfortably, notably as manager Sarri lately referred to him as “the next Kevin de Bruyne”.
The Polish talent is a central midfielder but is capable of playing on the left-wing. Zielinski could be a replacement for Emre Can perhaps? Jurgen Klopp’s side has Naby Keita coming in so the Napoli midfielder will have to provide quality performance in order to deserve a place in the starting lineup.
