Liverpool hand massive transfer blow in race for 25-year-old in-form striker

As per the latest reports, Liverpool have handed a massive transfer blow in race for Red Bull Leipzig in-form striker Emil Forsberg as the sporting director of Bundesliga club Ralf Rangnick has ruled out selling their key forward in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old Forsberg, who has alerted some of Europe’s top clubs given his impressive start to life in the German top flight, has managed to score five goals in 12 starts and registered eight assists for his team-mates as newly-promoted Leipzig spring a surprise title race.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp is believed to be in the mark for some attacking reinforcements as the Reds star man Sadio Mane is on international duty with Senegal national team in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The agent of Emil Forsberg, Hasan Cetinkaya, fueled the speculation by insisting the 25-year-old striker could be open to a move this month – a claim that Leipzig’s Rangnick has dismissed.

‘I can promise you that Emil will be here until [the end of the season] in any case,’ he said. ‘And hopefully for a long period after that, too.’ Said Forsberg’s representative.
