Liverpool in pole position to sign 22-year-old Spanish winger

Marco Asensio has reportedly threatened to Santiago Bernabeu the club if they complete the signing of Brazil international Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Real Madrid have frequently been linked with a blockbuster move for Neymar, who became the most expensive player in football history when he signed for PSG for £200m from Barcelona last year.

The 26-year-old superstar is reportedly desperate to return to La Liga with Madrid, but Diario Gol reports that Asensio would consider his future should the ex-Barcelona man arrive at the Bernabeu.

The Spain international made only 28 starts across all competitions last term and is concerned that the arrival of Neymar would further limit his first-team football in the Spanish capital.

The 22-year-old reportedly told the teammates that he is leaving whenever Neymar is present in the dressing room, and the likes of Liverpool, PSG and Juventus have been credited with an interest.

The Reds could look to prioritise a move for the Spanish talent after their attempts to sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon collapsed at the weekend. Adding Asensio to the squad will surely lift Jurgen Klopp’s side to another level.
