The Reds No.10 has handed in a transfer request and is attempting to force his way out of Merseyside club, prompting Jurgen Klopp to turn to an Italian forward
Barcelona have made two failed offer for Philippe Coutinho, but they are expected to return with a third bid for the Brazilian after he issued Liverpool with the transfer request last Friday.
As per The Mirror, Klopp is making contingency plans should he lose his best player and Insigne is the German’s top potential replacement for Coutinho.
Lorenzo Insigne has enjoyed a tense relationship with Napoli despite being their captain on the pitch. He was threatening to leave back in March if the Serie A giants did not sit down and discuss a new contract deal, but Insigne has since settled again.
The agent of 26-year-old speedster insisted earlier in the summer he was not interested in a move, but the Merseyside giants feel the £100m boost they would receive from the sale of Coutinho would give them enough funds to tempt Napoli to sell.
Insigne, who is valued at £60m by Napoli, scored an excellent 20 goals and registered 12 assists from the left wing for Napoli last term.
