As per the Daily Mirror, Manchester United will tell Real Madrid that if they want to sign David De Gea, the La Liga champions must put Toni Kroos in any deal for the Spain international.
It is believed that the Los Blancos have infuriated Man United by stepping up their interest in 26-year-old De Gea once again after missing out on the Spanish goalkeeper in the final hours of the transfer window last summer.
The same sources claim that Jose Mourinho has identified Toni Kroos as a to target if Real Madrid do attempt to force a move for De Gea ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Jose Mourinho has long been an admirer of the Germany international and considers him as the perfect partner for Paul Pogba in his midfield at Old Trafford. Man United are demanding a fee of around £60m for De Gea but the inclusion of Toni Kroos in a deal could lower their asking price.
Madrid, however, are keen to hang on to 27-year-old Kroos so may have to accept United’s £60m price tag for the Spain shot-stopper.
Kroos’ team-mate at the Santiago Bernabeu, Alvaro Morata, was also on Man United’s radar but the Premier League giants opted to sign Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal instead.
