Manchester United are ready to begin talks with Monaco over a deal to sign Djibril Sidibe, according to reports from Le10 Sport. Jose Mourinho is looking to increase his options in defence this summer and is searching for full-backs, as well as central defenders.
The Red Devils are said to be close to securing a £44 million deal for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, with reports in Italy claiming that an official announcement could be made shortly after the FA Cup final this weekend. But Le10 Sport is reporting that the Frenchman is also one of Premier League giants’ priorities and they will begin talks with French side ‘in the coming hours’. The report claims that Sidibe’s future could even be decided before the start of France’s World Cup campaign.
Monaco, however, want to hold out for a high transfer fee having received £52m from Manchester City for Benjamin Mendy last summer. Sidibe joined the current club from Lille for £13m back in 2016 and Monaco are looking to make a profit on him. The 25-year-old, who has made World Cup squad and has been first-choice right-back.
