June 26, 2018

Manchester United are reportedly planning to sign Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin during the summer’s transfer window.

The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for at least one new defender ahead of the 2018-19 season, and a move for Spurs centre-back Toby Alderweireld has gone cold in recent weeks.

According to AS, Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho has identified Godin as the perfect summer arrival as speculation surrounding the future of the 32-year-old gathers pace.

Uruguay international forward, who is currently representing his country at the 2018 World Cup, will see his current deal with Atletico to expire at the end of next campaign and could be available for as little as £18m this summer.

Serie A champions Juventus have also been rumoured with an interest in Atletico Madrid star, who represented Villarreal for three campaign ahead of a move to Diego Simeone’s side back in 2010.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also keeping tabs on Godin’s teammate Antoine Griezmann who has been valued at £100m and after snubbing move Spanish giants Barcelona the Red Devils have been handed hope to lure him at Old Trafford.
