DALEY BLIND’s ex-agent wanted Jose Mourinho to sell his client to Arsenal – but knew the Manchester United manager would never sanction the deal.
Dutch international defender who has not started a game in all competitions since winter has fancied an exit from Old Trafford last season.
The Gunners were linked with a swoop for Dutch international defender but his agent Rob Jansen suggested Mourinho’s reluctance to sell to direct Premier League rivals.
Jansen’s discussions with the 28-year-old defender before parting company are noted in the book ‘Deal’, which is on sale in the Netherlands.
It is reported that the agent said: “The nicest thing would be if he let Daley go to Arsenal. He’d be more suited here.”
Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne have come back to haunt Mourinho, who sold the duo during his time at Stamford Bridge.
But Jansen believes Mourinho doesn’t want to see his player to shine in another English club.
Jansen reportedly told Blind: “Mourinho is nervous about his players ending up back in the Premier League.
“Mourinho is a proud man, extremely proud.
“If he sells you to West Ham and you do well there, then everyone will be saying ‘Look now at who he let go!’
“So, I think he’d rather you go off to Europe. Out of the picture.”
Blind has joined Manchester United back in 2014 and has been contracted with the Red Devils until the end of the current campaign.
He is expected to leave the Old Trafford this summer and has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona
