Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has told close friends of his desire to sign Real Madrid centre-forward in the summer transfer window.
The reports from Manchester Evening News suggest that the Portuguese head coach is convinced that the Spain international would be a suitable replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and feels Alvaro Morata possesses the physicality to be a success in the Premier League.
It is believed that Jose Mourinho holds similar views about Torino sensation Andrea Belotti, with Tuttosport claiming last Friday that United are ready to submit an €80m (£70.6m) offer for the Italian striker.
But it’s Real Marid’s Alvaro Morata who is Mourinho’s priority signing and the Red Devils have already had a £52.4m bid rejected by Los Blancos.
The UCL winner are reportedly demanding £78m from theOld Trafford club, although the striker’s agent has already indicated that 24-year-old Spaniard will not tolerate another season as Zinedine Zidane’s back-up option.
Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez told Foot Mercato: ‘The player will take a clear and definitive decision in the coming days. I have not yet met with the representatives from Real Madrid. He does not want to do a season like this again. It was a great season, but he wants to play more.’
