Spanish giants piloting £22m bid for Man United’s 27-year-old star

Barcelona have reportedly made a £22m offer for midfielder Ander Herrera. Manchester United midfielder has only played a bit-part role under Jose Mourinho this term, participating in only 24 Premier League games with half of those coming as a substitute.

The 28-year-old, who joined Manchester United back in 2014, is understood to be keen on a return to La Liga in search of more regular first-team football, with former club Athletic Bilbao initially thought to have been the leaders for his signature.

However, El Gol Digital is reporting that the Catalan giants have now entered the hunt with a £22m bid which the Red Devils are willing to accept. Herrera’s first-team chances are likely to be limited at Camp Nou too, but the move would see him reunited with former manager Ernesto Valverde.

Since joining the Premier League giants, the midfielder has gone on to make 158 appearances for the club across all competitions, netting 17 goals. When he arrived at Old Trafford, he was viewed as a future star, but the shortage of playing time is forcing him to make a move away.
