Team News

Stoke

  • Marko Arnautovic is free to return to the team after serving a three-match ban. His return could mean Stoke revert back to their usual back four.
  • Phil Bardsley was an unused substitute in the 4-2 defeat to Chelsea but he could make his first appearance since November here if Mark Hughes looks to add fresh legs to the team.
  • Ibrahim Afellay may drop to the bench having only just returned from a long spell on the sidelines. Peter Crouch and Mame Biram Diouf are vying for a start in attack with Jonathan Walters struggling with a knee injury and Wilfried Bony out of favour.

Watford

  • Nordin Amrabat and Adlène Guédioura are available for selection on Tuesday before flying off to the Africa Cup of Nations. Amrabat may not even feature here anyway after picking up a knock at the weekend. Juan Zuniga will also be assessed before this fixture which could leave Watford with a real problem.
  • Watford can, however, welcome back Miguel Britos after he missed their 4-1 defeat at home to Tottenham on Sunday through suspension.
  • Stefano Okaka has missed Watford’s last four matches through injury but is tipped to return to the squad in midweek and may even start.

Match Facts

  • Watford have kept a clean sheet in their last 4 away matches against Stoke in all competitions.
  • Watford have lost their last 4 away matches (Premier League).
  • Stoke have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches against Watford in all competitions.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Stoke’s last 3 games (Premier League).
  • Stoke have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3 matches (Premier League).
  • Stoke have failed to win their last 5 matches (Premier League).

Prediction

  • Stoke came close to ending Chelsea’s stunning winning run but ended up losing 4-2. Mark Hughes will expect nothing other than three points against an injury hit Watford side on Tuesday night to end their run of five games without a win.
  • Watford were humilated 4-1 by Tottenham last time out and are struggling to cope with a number of key absences. With fixtures coming thick and fast their poor run of form should really continue here. The Hornets have lost three of their last four.
  • There have been under 2.5 goals in five of the last six meetings between these teams and that could continue here. Stoke haven’t even scored in the last four matches they’ve hosted against Watford but that should end here.
