According to the latest media sources, two Liverpool stars Daniel Sturridge and James Milner are set to miss the opening match in the Premier League against Arsenal at Emirates.
The English duo have missed the Reds’ final pre-season match against Mainz and face a race against time to be fit for the start of the Premier League.
The 26-year-old Daniel Sturridge has been suffering from a hip injury which flared up at training yesterday, while James Milner has picked up a foot injury during the 4-0 win against Barcelona.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Danel Sturridge had to sit out training on Thursday but was optimistic about the forward’s fitness going into the new campaign.
During his interview with Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: “Of course, he had a few days where he couldn’t train and that’s not too good for the Arsenal game, but we have other players who are available and that’s good for us.
“Hopefully it stays like this and we can give Daniel enough time so that when he is fit again, he can then become match fit in the next few days. There are a lot of games to play.
“It is nothing serious with him, but it was enough to get him out of training and so now we have to see.”
