West Ham and Spurs show “great interest” in ex-Man Utd striker Hernandez – report

German outlet Bild is claiming West Ham and Spurs are showing “great interest” in signing Javier Hernandez this summer.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker is out of contract next summer and Bild claim the German side could be willing to sell him for £13m during this transfer window, rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Hernandez, formerly of Manchester United scored 11 goals in 20 games last season in the Bundesliga but could look for a return to the Premier League at the age of 29.

The Hammers reportedly face competition from Spurs for Hernandez’s services as they try to find a strike partner for Harry Kane.

West Ham have been heavily linked with moves for Olivier Giroud and Kelechi Iheanacho this summer, with reported progress on a switch for the latter emerging on Thursday night.

The Man City striker has been told he can leave the Etihad but the club want to insert a buy-back clause into any new contract at a different club, believed to be £38m after selling him for £25m.

Any move for Giroud is likely to hinge on Arsenal signing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this summer, with the Gunners rumoured to be making a £50m bid for the Frenchman’s services which will pave the way for Giroud to move on.
