Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was reportedly open to signing for Chelsea during the winter transfer window.
AAubameyang is considering whether to extend his deal at the Emirates Stadium past 2021.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the North London club’s skipper may have made the move to his teams London rivals earlier this season had it not been for his wage demands.
Although the 31-year-old is said to have been keen on a move, the Blues were not interested in breaking their pay structure to accommodate the forward.
Aubameyang has since gone on to enjoy an excellent season with the Gunners, founding back of the net 27 times in all competitions.
Gabon international forward has been in fine form and he has once again proved it in the FA Cup final against Chelsea where he has found back of the net twice and helped his side to reach the title after 2-1 victory.
Chelsea have already signed Timo Werner in order to strengthen their offensive end while Tammy Abraham and Oliver Giroud also remain at the club and it seems unlikely to see Frank Lampard’s side making a move for former Dortmund striker.
