Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly in talks with Man United over a move for defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, with the Serbian has struggled with first-team minutes at Old Trafford.
Matic has made only six Premier League appearances this campaign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, with greater opportunities available in recent weeks because of injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.
According to the Daily Mail, Serie A giants are interested in securing the services of the 31-year-old this month and have begun discussions with the 20-times English champions.
Matic’s current contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer, however, it does have the option to be extended for one more year if the club decides to keep him.
Since arriving at Old Trafford from the Blues back in 2017, Matic has played 99 games, scoring three times and registering four assists.
The original transfer cost the Red Devils £40m, although any move this month would likely be at a cut-price.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have agreed a £47million move for Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek, dealing a huge blow for Man Utd.
The Dutch midfielder is among the most sought-after players in Europe after helping the talented Dutch midfielder to the Champions League semi-finals last season.
The Los Blancos are keen to recruit a long-term successor to Croatian playmaker Luka Modric, in the middle of the park, and have identified Dutchman, Van de Beek as the perfect man for that role.
As first reported by the Sunday Mirror, a contract has been struck between the two teams for the Dutchman to make the switch this summer.
It comes as a massive blow to Man Utd boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who had hoped Donny Van de Beek could spearhead his midfield as the Norwegian bids to restore the Red Devils to Europe’s top table.
