AC Milan set to hijack Liverpool move for £18m Bundesliga defender

Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to secure services of Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak.

The 20-year-old has only played 32 games for his current team since arriving from Galatasaray in July 2019, however, is already being rumoured with an exit.

The Merseyside Reds are believed to be interested in securing the services of the Turkey international, with the Reds expected to enter the winter transfer market for a new defender following to their injury issues in that area of the field.

However, according to Calciomercato, Stefano Pioli’s side are also keen on Kabak, who is believed to be valued in the region of €20m (£18m) by Schalke.

The report suggests that the Italian heavyweights are reluctant to pay more than €15m (£13.6m), however, could include a series of add-ons to get the deal done for Schalke’s centre-back.

Kabak has made four Bundesliga games during the 2020-21 season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are allegedly set to face stiff competition from city rivals Everton for the signing of Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer in January, according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.

Bremer featured 35 times in all competitions for Torino last season, netting five goals and setting up three more.

The South American has started in all but one of the Turin-based side’s Serie A matches in the current term, chipping in with a goal.

Liverpool are in a crisis situation at the moment, owing to a spate of injuries to the defensive personnel since the start of the new campaign.
