According to the Italian media, the agent of Napoli central midfielder Jorginho has held talks with Manchester United over a potential transfer move.
The Premier League giants are believed to be scouring the market for midfield reinforcements with veteran star Michael Carrick set to retire at the end of the current season and 31-year-old Marouane Fellaini unlikely to extend his current contract which expires in six month’s time.
Ander Herrera, meanwhile, has fallen down the pecking order and has been linked with a return to Spain in the summer.
Brazilian-born Italy international Jorginho has made over 100 appearances for Napoli and his understood to have been identified by Jose Mourinho as a perfect successor for Michael Carrick, who made this first appearance since September in Friday night’s FA Cup fourth round win over Yeovil.
And, as per the Italian publication Rai Sport, members of Jorginho’s entourage met with representatives from United about joining in the summer.
The 26-year-old Jorginho has established himself as Serie A’s one of the best midfielders and it’s not a surprise that Jose Mourinho is considering the Brazilian as one of the top targets for the summer transfer window.
