Agent of prolific PL forward drops hint about PL move amid Man Utd rumours

The agent of Belgian forward Dries Mertens has talked up the chances of his client making a move to the Premier League in 2020 amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Mertens has enjoyed a prolific start to the current Serie A campaign and is now just four goals away from equalling Marek Hamsik’s record as the top scorer of Napoli.

However, with his current deal expiring at the end of the current campaign, there is a chance that he could call time on his spell with the Serie A giants – with Tottenham and Arsenal in talks with his entourage already while Chelsea and Man Utd are also keen on to agree his deal.

The Belgian forward is one of several players caught up in a crisis situation at Serie A giants, where owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has turned on the squad after they turned down to accept his decision to put them in a training camp.

And agent Federico Pastorello reveals that his client could be keen on to play in the English top-tier.

“If I think about a good opportunity in the market, it would be Mertens from Napoli,” he told Sky Sports News. “He is out of contract [in the summer].

“He is an amazing player. I think he will be soon the best scorer in the history of the club.

“Every player really wants to play in the Premier League at least once. So I think he would be very happy to play in the Premier League.”

The 32-year-old Belgian forward has found back of the net four times from five Champions League games this campaign, including a well-taken forward in the draw against the Merseyside Reds.
