Al Nassr make ambitious move to sign Arsenal forward

Arsenal are evaluating a shock loan proposal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr, reports claim.

Express Sport claimed back in December that the north Londoners would hear offers for their former skipper this month but thus far, the club are yet to receive a formal offer.

The Gabonese has been away in Cameroon with his country for the Africa Cup of Nations but was recently sent home to north London for medical reasons, with further tests likely to take place.

Meanwhile, his long-term future remains unresolved with the Gunners keen to move the striker on because of the breakdown of his relationship with manager Mikel Arteta.

The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have previously been mentioned but so far, none of the continent’s elite have registered a firm interest in him.

According to CBS Sports, the Mrsool Park side are now interested in landing the 32-year-old on an initial loan.

They’d then complete a mandatory purchase of the attacker for just £6.7 million at the end of the term.

Speaking to reporters, the Spaniard refused to provide assurances that Pierre-Emerick would play for the club again.

“He contracted Covid and then the national team decided to bring him back here,” the Spaniard said.

“We need to make sure the player’s health is in the best possible condition and then we’ll see what happens.”
