Argentine giants struggle to agree deal for Arsenal midfielder

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is allegedly unlikely to join Boca Juniors this summer’s transfer window.

The 25-year-old star is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid and has featured in 23 matches for the Spanish outfit since arriving from the north London heavyweights last October.

Atletico won’t be signing the star on a permanent basis, though, meaning that Lucas is due to return to the Emirates Stadium outfit at the end of June.

Torreira seemingly doesn’t have a future at Arsenal under current head coach Mikel Arteta, and the Uruguay international has recently revealed that he is interested in joining Boca for personal reasons.

However, according to a report by TyC Sports, a move during this summer’s transfer market is unlikely as the Argentine outfit would struggle to afford the former Sampdoria ace’s signature.

The report claims that the Gunners are open to allowing the midfielder to leave on loan but would demand a £1 million fee, in addition to his £75,000 per week wages being paid.

Arteta’s side are understood to value the South American at £15 million.

In other news, Arsenal and Chelsea are allegedly planning to hijack Eric Garcia’s proposed transfer to Barcelona after the Catalan giants changed the terms of their agreement.

He has only made 10 appearances in all competitions during a frustrating 2020-21 season, including a mere two starts in the English top-flight for Guardiola’s title-chasers.
