Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi could reportedly finalise a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray in the coming days with the Gunners defender’s agent flying to Turkey to hold talks over a potential switch.
The 27-year-old has largely failed to impress for the Norht London club since arriving from La Liga giants Valencia back in 2016 and has only made three Premier League games during the 2019-20 season.
Having been left out of the squad for the Gunners last two league games against Crystal Palace and Manchester United, the defender has seemingly been made surplus to requirements by new head-coach Mikel Arteta.
According to Fotomac, German defender’s agent is set to fly to Turkey to discuss a switch to Turkish giants Galatasaray, who have emerged as the frontrunners to secure the services of the Germany international this month.
The report adds that the centre-back could move on an initial loan with the view to a permanent transfer.
German centre-back, who will see his current contract at the Emirates Stadium expire in June 2021, has played 125 games for the North London club in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Sport report that Dayot Upamecano is the ‘ultimate goal’ of La Liga giants Barcelona in the winter window, following plenty of rumours between the RB Leipzig player and the Gunners. They expect the defender to cost €53m.
Sport add that Arsenal still want Upamecano to join them this month, Barcelona reportedly want to secure the services of the 21-year-old to allow Samuel Umtiti to depart from the club. Sport also mention the Gunners as a possible buyer in that case.
Most recently, Charles Watts of Goal confirmed that the North London club’s interest in Upamecano. He claimed the team held discussions with Bundesliga giants, RB Leipzig, over signing the defender last summer. If Leipzig decide to sell, the Gunners could try and do a deal in January, according to Watts.
