Arsenal have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to secure services of RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate.
With the Gunners head-coach, Mikel Arteta expected to oversee a major team overhaul in the summer strengthening defending options could be on their transfer target.
The club have already waved goodbye to Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi while David Luiz and Calum Chambers are also not guaranteed to remain at the Emirates beyond the summer, so Arteta supposedly wants to strengthen his defensive ranks for the 2021-22 season.
Leipzig defender Konate has already been linked on the radar of Chelsea, however, according to the Evening Standard, the Gunners are also in the hunt for his services.
Chelsea are in the market to find a replacement for Fikayo Tomori who has been rumoured with a permanent move to AC Milan.
The 21-year-old will see his contract at RB Leipzig end in 2023 and could be allowed to depart for the right price this summer, although Julian Nagelsmann has already lost Dayot Upamecano to Bayern Munich.
Ibrahima Konate has endured an injury-plagued season and has started just four Bundesliga matches for Leipzig this season, as well as six appearances in the Champions League.
