Arsenal are likely to be open to proposals for Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah in the summer, as the two attackers prepare to enter the final year of their current deals, Football.London report.
Both stars have contracts lasting until June 2022, meaning they will enter their final year in the upcoming market. Eddie seems to be particularly out of favour under manager Mikel Arteta at the moment.
Since Christmas, he has only made three matches, and only one of them lasting longer than 10 minutes. Eddie’s one start was in the FA Cup defeat to Southampton.
The 21-year-old star is yet to even make a matchday roster in February, and he’s played 10 minutes of the last 10 top-flight games.
It seems like the realistic variants for him now are to extend and go on loan or find a permanent transfer.
As for Lacazette, he has had plenty of games this campaign. Alexandre’s up to 27 appearances across all competitions and 20 of them were starts.
Yet the former Lyon ace still struggles for consistent goalscoring form and you get the feeling the Gunners don’t see him as their long-term striker.
Whatever happens, it is clear that this summer transfer market is the time to make a final decision on their futures.
The north Londoners may well look to sell both and reinvest in one player to rotate with and finally take over from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
They have promising attacker Gabriel Martinelli as another option, so that would leave them with three forwards to choose from.
