The chances of Arsenal keeping playmaker Martin Odegaard beyond this term have taken a hit, with a report stating Real Madrid want him back.
Arsenal purchased Odegaard on loan for the rest of the campaign in January, after he had struggled to make an impression in the first half of the season in Madrid.
Much was expected of the ace at the Bernabeu after a positive 2019-20 term on loan at fellow La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.
However, Martin only managed three starts in the league back with his parent club. Hence, they allowed the player to leave for another loan stint at Arsenal.
Things have started fairly positive for himat his new club. Odegaard has already started two PL games and has come off the bench in three others.
There has already been talk of the Gunners trying to sign Odegaard permanently this summer.
Boss Mikel Arteta has made no secret of that desire, recently hailing his player’s leadership qualities.
However, according to Marca, Los Blancos have been impressed by Martin’s form so far at Arsenal. They’re seeing the kind of displays they were expecting from him earlier this campaign.
However, there was a key reason why Martin was not able to perform to his maximum in the Spanish capital.
The report reminds that the Norwegian had a tendonitis issue in his knee, which was treated before the start of the season.
Now, the midfield sensation has finally shaken off the knee problem, meaning he is more comfortable on the pitch.
Therefore, the Galacticos are ready to give him another chance next campaign. That will wreck the north Londoners’ plans to sign him permanently.
