Arsenal are considering a swoop for Real Betis right-back Emerson Royal, according to the latest reports in Spain.
Mikel Arteta convinced the Spain international Hector Bellerin to stay last summer but the club are now facing the prospect of losing the 26-year-old star at the end of the term.
Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are both keen on Bellerin, while reports have stated that Arteta has already agreed to let his compatriot move on this summer.
The north Londoners are likely to be in the market for a new right-back in the summer, and according to Mundo Deportivo, Royal is on their shortlist.
The report claims that Gunners scouts have been ‘closely monitoring’ Emerson’s displays and are now weighing up an offer.
Arsenal are also interested in the player’s teammate at Betis, Guido Rodriguez, with Mikel looking to strengthen his options in midfield.
Emerson signed for Betis from Atletico Mineiro in February 2019 but the deal was in conjunction with Barcelona.
Both Blaugrana and Betis agreed to pay €6m (£5.1m) each but Emerson is only due to move to Catalonia this summer when Barca pay their share, plus another €3 million (£2.5m).
According to reports last week, new Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta is already planning to bring the star to the club at the end of the season.
