RB Leipzig are reportedly planning to sell Arsenal transfer target for a cut-price deal next summer.
According to The Daily Mail, the Gunners are keen on the French centre-back Upamecano and German outfits are now reconsidering their stance on his availability following the players lack of interest to sign a contract extension with the club.
The report suggested that the Gunners had an offer of £55m turned down in the summer by Leipzig and at the end of the day Unai Emery signed David Luiz from Chelsea in a £8m deal.
Despite the signing of Luiz, Frenchman could be an update for the Gunners defence.
Arsenal have conceded 11 goals in eight games in the English top-tier which shows that they have plenty of room for improvement in defence before they can compete on the higher level.
The French defender has been a shining light for the German club in the Bundesliga of late and has registered an impressive 7.09 rating for his form in the league this campaign, as per WhoScored. He has also averaged a staggering 3.3 tackles per-game, compared to Luiz’s 0.9 This shows that, in terms of tackling, Frenchman is a huge update and could play a key role for the North Londo club.
Bringing him in would also be a signal of intent from the Gunners that they are ready to challenge for the trophies and sign top players from some of the best teams – much like their signing of Nicolas Pepe in the summer.
