Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly keen on a summer deal for Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca.
The 23-year-old star came through the youth system at the Spanish side and has since made 51 appearances for his side’s first-team, scoring six goals in the process.
This campaign, the Spaniard has managed two goals and three assists in 33 games in all competitions, and Bayern Munich are understood to be admirers of his talent.
According to a Spanish outlet Sport, Arsenal have identified the midfielder as the perfect summer signing, although the Gunners might be forced to activate his €40 million (£35m) release clause to complete a deal.
They are currently bottom of La Liga, six points from the safety zone, although there is no guarantee that the 2019-20 term will be allowed to resume.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton have also recently been touted with an interest in the holding midfielder.
In other news, Arsenal have allegedly agreed to honour a clause which was included in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez’s contract back in 2010.
Since officially linking up with the club a year later, Martinez has spent much of his time on loan at other sides, including five teams in the EFL.
However, Independiente, Emiliano’s former club, were alerted when the star was promoted to deputy to first-choice Bernd Leno, aware that the South American would likely be provided with matches in cup competitions.
According to Doble Amarilla, the Gunners have argued that appearances in the UEL shouldn’t count when it comes to a clause of €500,000 (£439,000) being activated upon 10 games being made in the first team.
