Arsenal eyeing move for 26-year-old La Liga star valued at €30m

Arsenal have been keen to land Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan this month’s transfer window and could get a second chance to get a deal done.

That’s according to the Italian website Calciomercato.it, who say Papu Gomez’s arrival at the club has changed Jordan’s situation at Sevilla.

Jordan was linked with a transfer to the Emirates earlier in January, with it believed manager Mikel Arteta was on the hunt for a creative midfielder, and it now becomes visible that their interest was serious.

Ultimately the move did not happen and Calciomercato.it say this was because of the La Liga outfit’s demands, with the Spanish side wanting €30 million for their man.

That has forced the Gunners to ‘give up’ on a deal, but their interest in the player is long-standing and has not completely gone away.

According to the same media outlet, they could now be handed a second shot, with it explained that Joan’s situation at Sevilla is ‘evolving’.

His deal expires in 2023, and if the two sides don’t agree on renewal in the coming months, the management could decide to deprive themselves of Jordan and sanction a move.

Several Italian sides, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli and AS Roma, have all already quizzed about his current situation but they are all also aware of the ‘long courtship’ by the north Londoners.

The transfer is very much one that could now happen in the summer depending on contract talks and something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks and months as they develop.
