Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is allegedly keen to land Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling.
He has dropped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium outfit and is no longer an automatic pick.
Gunners manager previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Citizens and is a big admirer of Raheem.
The Arsenal chief had an excellent relationship with the player at the Citizens and, according to the Daily Star, now wants to take the player to the Emirates Stadium.
The star has only started two Premier League matches this term – against Southampton and Tottenham.
He did start the previous weekend’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain – but his club again failed to score.
Raheem is currently in negotiations about a fresh contract but talks are apparently moving ‘slowly’ because of the forward’s wage demands.
The former Liverpool ace is thought to be looking for £350,000 per week – £50,000 more than he’s currently earning.
And if he can not thrash out a new contract, the Gunners are one club who would be more than prepared to give him a get-out option.
The Englishman currently has 20 months remaining on his deal and City could be ready to listen to offers next year if he does not put pen to paper before then.
