Arsenal handed chance to sign PL No.9 forward

Arsenal are in advanced discussions with Man City over a deal for Gabriel Jesus. The London giants are reportedly willing to offer €50m to the PL champions and a five-year deal to the 25-year-old centre-forward as they inch closer to completing an agreement.

Brazil international was a candidate to leave Man City last summer when the club relentlessly pursued Harry Kane to become their first choice No.9. They failed to convince Spurs to do a deal for the Englishman, who stayed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which convinced the Brazilian centre-forward to stay put at Man City.

While the Brazilian has been deployed in all three positions of a front-three this campaign, the striker has excelled in a centre-forward role. His late-season goalscoring form for Man City is a testament to his qualities, which continues to bring the interest of many teams, including the Gunners.

The South American centre-forward has a year left on his deal, and after Man City announced the agreement to add Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, the striker is primed to depart from the Etihad Stadium. The Gunners have been interested in reaching an agreement with Jesus, and things have advanced since the initial deal with his agent.

Gabriel is reportedly open to joining the Gunners, while his agent’s recent comments over liking the current project at Arsenal indicate they favour a move to north London. Man City’s possible €60m demand could still prove a minor problem for Arsenal.
